Knitting is wonderful. I love the doing of it. I love the creativity. I love learning something new (yes, I cuss and fuss through the process but in the end am so pleased). The thing I love best about knitting are all the wonderful people who have come into my life because of knitting. In the last year new friends have come into my life and I have had the opportunity to come closer to a couple old friends by sharing this great activity. Knitting is something to be so thankful for.

August 2007 as preparation for total hip surgery I decided to ask my friend, Knittingbabe, to try again to teach me to knit. About ten years ago she tried and eventually declared me "knitting impaired". This time I really wanted to learn and had time to learn. During my recovery she patiently reworked mistakes, put up with my ill humor and taught me to knit and purl. To encourage this habit I came up with the idea of starting a knit group. The first meeting was December 1, 2007. I don't think anyone came in spite of all the flyers I had put out. Later in December donnaknitty joined and has been a wonderful support for me and the group. In the new year pandasmom and Vanchy began coming to the group. Now each week four to eight individuals come on Saturday mornings to Town Center Breads Coffee House, 4171 Raphael Street, in Clark's Grove Neighborhood, Covington, GA to have a cup and a chat with their needlework.
